Children's Tanuki Festival

Here are some photos and video from the Children's Tanuki Festival which was in Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade, Sapporo. They had their own mikoshi parade down Tanukikoji. Mikoshi is a portable Shinto shrine which normally represents a lavishly decorated building with pillars, a veranda and sometimes a roof with a carved phoenix. The Japanese hold these heavy Mikoshi's on their shoulders and march down the streets for the festivals.

These kids had their own miniature Mikoshi. Sooooooo cute!
