My Onion Fairy

I want to introduce you to Tappy.

I received an e-mail from my Supervisor in Japan saying that I will be teaching in Sapporo City!!! I went straight to google and was introduced to my ward's mascot - TAPPY!!!

Tappy is THE fairy of the onions. His name in Japanese is "onion" and "happy" put together. How amazing is that?!?!?!?! I couldn't have asked for a better more suiting placement in Japan. I have a gut feeling that Tappy and I are going to be best friends.

Hokkaido here I come!

July 26th, 2008 is when I'll be flying out on my next adventure. This time it will be to Hokkaido, Japan with JET (The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme.)

A few days ago, I found out that I will be living in Sapporo - the 5th largest city in Japan! Sapporo is known for hosting the 1972 Olympics, the annual Yuki Matsuri (Sapporo Snow Festival) and of course, the Sapporo Brewery.

With a population of almost 2 million- I have a feeling this adventure will be quite different to my last adventure which was as a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural village in Kenya, East Africa!!!

So now I'm preparing myself to trade my mud huts for neon lights... I can't wait!!!!!
